Important for use

Observe manufacturer's instructions, appropriate dimensions and secure fastening. A bathing aid does not guarantee the prevention of falls. Never leave babies and small children alone while bathing; a bath seat does not replace immediate supervision.

Bath thermometer – practical accessory for the bathroom

If you bathe a lot and often, a bath thermometer is essential. This is the only way to accurately determine the water temperature. Since a bath thermometer is used in water, it must be waterproof. Many models, especially digital thermometers, can also measure room temperature. This is especially useful if a baby needs to be bathed. Little ones in particular freeze particularly quickly after bathing, so care should be taken in advance to ensure that the room temperature is comfortable. The temperature in the child's room can also be determined with a digital bath thermometer, which also measures the room temperature.

Who is a bath thermometer useful for?

babies A bath thermometer is very useful for a safe baby bath in order to be able to precisely determine the temperature of the water. The water should never be too hot for the baby bath, as the baby's delicate skin is still very sensitive and scalding can quickly occur. In addition, the baby's organism is still very unstable, so if the water is too warm, the circulatory system is quickly overloaded. This can have dramatic health consequences. But water that is too cold would not be good for the baby either. Therefore, parents should always play it safe and check the water temperature exactly.

adults Adults, especially older people and people with circulation or blood pressure problems, should also always have a bath thermometer on hand for a full bath, as the water temperature is often underestimated with a bare hand. A bath that is too hot can cause dizziness and more serious circulatory problems.

What types of bath thermometers are there?

In general, bath thermometers can be divided into digital and analogue models. Analogue models are the classics among thermometers and are also very affordable. The liquid in the thermometer rises depending on the temperature. This can then be read using the scale. Digital models, on the other hand, are more convenient and precise, as the exact temperature is shown on a display. In terms of price, they are slightly higher than analog thermometers. Bath thermometers can also be made of wood or plastic. There are also colorful thermometers in the shape of animals or toys for babies and children.

Bath thermometer and mercury

For many years, thermometers were filled with mercury. However, because mercury is poisonous and has a toxic effect on the body, a broken or broken mercury thermometer is very dangerous. This is especially true for babies, but also for adults. Therefore, thermometers containing mercury are no longer produced today. Modern analog thermometers predominantly use colored alcohol (ethanol). But even if new thermometers are no longer toxic, you should always make sure that the thermometer is intact before using it. Alternatively, you can also buy a digital thermometer.
